I happened to learn about "the oracle" tonight (Thanks Tim!) and used it to drop to a prompt in the context of my site root and execute the code you provided. It worked perfectly for deleting the extra portlets. Thanks! However, something is still amiss: Quills still manages to usurp the normal portlet behavior and prevent the portlets I specify with @@manage-portlets from appearing. How does it do this?
