Hrrrmmm...  I skimmed QUILT_COMPAT_PROG_PATH but didn't fully grok
it at first.  I see now how COMPAT_SYMLINKS ties it all together, and
bin/quilt.in adjust PATH.  Sorry for the noise, I think this diff can
be ignored!
