Just a note -- according to the official MIDI specification, a velocity of 0 is a valid note off message, so note off messages are optional. It's useful to remember that everything in MIDI except for possibly the data rate is optional, and this is one of the reasons the specification got adopted by such a contentious group of manufacturers and why it persists.

It could be your keyboard is using zero velocity note on instead of proper note off messages. Hope this helps. God bless, James. ----Original Message---- From: seth...@gmail.com Date: 17/07/2017 16:08 To: "QWS list"<qws@AndreLouis.COM> Subj: QWS List Issue with bizarre note values in QWS So I'm having the following issues: I recorded a drum track from my keyboard to an SMF0 track in QWS. I tried doing a channel split, but for some reason, when I play back the channel 10 drum track, I was missing a bunch of notes. Same thing if I try just copying and pasting. I went into the event list, and on the SMF zero track, those notes that I wasn't hearing on the Channel 10 track were there, but they were showing up with weird length values in the millions, and I couldn't seem to change these values. Please listen to the audio file under the drop box link to see what I mean: > > https://www.dropbox.com/s/m5kvb3mauf1sxa6/Q%20WS%20copy%20and%20paste% > 20issue%20example.mp3?dl=0 > I will also attach the midi file so that anybody can look at it and understand what I'm dealing with here. > > Thank you for your help in advance. > God bless! > Seth To unsubscribe or change list options, see http://lists.andrelouis.com for archived list posts, see http://www.mail-archive.com/qws@andrelouis.com To unsubscribe or change list options, see http://lists.andrelouis.com for archived list posts, see http://www.mail-archive.com/qws@andrelouis.com
