For what it's worth, the budget 61 key controller is $279 and comes with
some free instruments, and they get even cheaper if you're willing to go
smaller than 61. You could opt to get the M32, which is very compact,
and use it as a portable controller and control surface of sorts for
Komplete. There are a lot of free and inexpensive Kontakt libraries you
could load up and use. You can buy more expensive controllers from them,
and you can upgrade your Komplete to one of several expansions that go
all the way up to the jaw-droppingly expensive Collectors' Edition, but
that is by no means a requirement for making good music or getting into
the Komplete ecosystem.

Well, Seth, that's too much for me right now.
I thank you for writing.

To be honest, I’ve been using the KK stuff with logic pro, not QWS.
I’m not really sure how well they work with QWS. I do know that they
work with reaper though.
How strange that your keyboard doesn’t have a local off function. All
keyboards should have that ability. Of course, the alternative would
be to play it using an external controller when you’re using it in
QWS. As far as pricing for the
KK products, the Komplete CE package is $1600. I believe the
ultimate package is 1200, and the prices go down from there. I don’t
recall the prices of the controllers off hand.
God bless!

Hi, Seth,
The instrument is a Medeli sp-4200. Believe it or not, the MIDI
implementation chart shows that controler 122 is crossed out.
What do these "complete packages" offer? Do they avoid Loopmidi and
Vsthost? What do they cost?
God bless you as well.

Every keyboard should now have the ability to turn off local, unless
it’s something really stupid cheap like a $50 RadioShack keyboard
from the past. What model keyboard did you get? It should say in
the manual how to turn off local.
As far as virtual instruments go, your best bet is going to be to
purchase one of the Komplete packages, and a A49 or S49 controller
from Native Instruments so you can access the parameters. There are
several versions of the Komplete package, some of which only have a
few instruments while others have literally hundreds of
instruments. I currently own Komplete 12 CE, and I’m looking at
upgrading to 13. This package is amazing! There are so many
instruments I haven’t even gotten a chance to work with all of them.
God bless!

Good morning,
The new music keyboard is very nice and at a cost of only $500. The
problem is that it does not have thie ability to turn off Local.
Some of its 600 sounds are very good but, under the circumstances,
useless.
For this reason I am forced to obtain virtual sounds.
I foun d an article on the QWS site which discusses Loopmidi and
Vsthost. The instructions for using these programs to set up virtual
instruments are rather brief and assume more knowledge than I possess.
I'm supposed to tell Loopmidi what ports I plan to use. Well, I
figure to select Proteus VX as my sound bank, but do I use that as
the port name?
I'm supposed to open Vsthost in Wave. Well, the closest I can find
is Use Bank.
I believe I was able to delete the Input port in QWS. That is as far
as I could get.
I will appreciate any help you ncan offer as to how to move forward
successfully with my search for virtual instruments.
I thank you very much for your help.
