Glad to hear you are still with us, Shaun. The HSN days were a lot of fun.

Glad to see some familiar names!
I too read the mail but don't typically post much. I was more active in the HSN days before I went back to school and had a second career. That said, I have now retired from the day job and plan to start refurbing the R390A's and SP-600's I have been storing for 10-20 years.
Best regards to all,

Hello list - seems like a roll call of old timers.
I am still here but also don't post much. I joined the list back when it was hosted on a server at MIT, I think, possibly in the mid-1980's. At that time there were about 90 or 100 on the list.
During a "family upheaval" I lost three R-391's, and a list of other radios too long and difficult to recite. I do still own an R-389 with busted PTO, and three R-390A's, one of which has a groove worn deep into the panel at the tuning knob, presumably from years of duty in intercept work.
The distances from my present location at western Mass to storage units in MD and NY, and a health challenge have kept me from getting at least one or two of these radios back into operation. Even at 78, I am hoping to work on them again, possibly late Fall or next Spring.
It's nice to hear from list members, both long familiar and not so . . .

But I do still have that BLACK R-390 you had Mr. Mish do for you. Had it on a
good part of the day Sunday.

Even though I no longer own a R-390 or R-390A. I enjoy the list. I
am 79 and I also don't have a ticket/license. The idea of a new list with better searching capabilities sounds good to me. I'll throw in a couple of bucks or whatever...
Presently have a Hammarlund HQ-180 and an Icom IC756ProIII with the AM BCB
attenuation removed.
At one time I think I held the "record" for being put in the "Penalty Box." The
list is quite quiet these days. I fear many of my era are no longer with us.

This is an interesting thread we are pursuing. The idea of a keyword search of the archives is
brilliant, and will be very useful for all of us. My attempts with "Pearls" has
misfilings, and can be frustrating when you are looking for a specific subject. Just for the
record, I am 83 and a retired surgeon. Been fooling with radio since 1952, and am probably the only
one on this listserv without a ticket. My stash is smaller now, with only two R390A's (an early
Collins and a newer Capehart) with their original meters, an untouched R392, a BC-348Q, a couple of
Q-5er's, and one RAX. My one "modern" unit is a TenTek 1254. My weakness is being a test
instrument junkie, with a collection of homebrew gear.
