OK folks, We're warming up to the release of R-2.0.0 on Oct. 4 (aka 2004-10-04).
There will be two weeks of alpha releases followed by two weeks of beta releases, starting today. The releases are made available via CRAN in http://cran.r-project.org/src/base-prerelease and the first one is there already. In case of urgency or CRAN failure, the releases will also be found at http://www.biostat.ku.dk/~pd/R-pre Procedures have changed a bit due to the change from a CVS to SVN source code repository over summer, and the fact that the core team needed to cut back on remote logins to eachother's computers for security reasons. Thus, there is a higher risk that something goes wrong in the packaging this time, and so it is important to get the tarballs tested thoroughly (only minimal checking takes place during the build). As always, the need for testing is particularly important for the less common platforms. Please make sure to test the tarballs, building from rsync or SVN checkouts is not quite the same thing. for the R Core Team Peter Dalgaard -- O__ ---- Peter Dalgaard Blegdamsvej 3 c/ /'_ --- Dept. of Biostatistics 2200 Cph.
