This alpha release of 2.0.0 built like a charm for me yesterday, and also runs fine. I did not upload it to Debian as a recent rebuilt of 1.9.1 needs to migrate from 'unstable' to 'testing' first. Once that migration is done, I may upload alpha releases of R 2.0.0. Or maybe I'll wait for the beta releases as I also need a working R in unstable to maintain the various packages of CRAN packages. Need to ponder that some more. If there is interest, I can make the R 2.0.0 test packages available somewhere.
