Thank you very much for your answers. I could do it by downloading the package I needed manually and then installing it through the Terminal. Yet the fundamental problem remains. I downloaded R 2.14.1 several times from different mirrors and there are many packages that do not show up in the list of binaries. They do in the list of sources, but then I have a problem compiling the package... I did not have this problem from my home computer when I installed R 2.14.0.
