I don't typically post to r-help but I could not pass up responding. While I don't use S+ any longer many folks in my lab do use it and there is a viable and useful market for it. Personally I welcome the direction Insightful is taking. I don't know David Smith but I take my hat off to him for an appropriate and measured response. I'm not certain I would have been as polite.
