Hi Jed,

Sorry I wasn't clear. I meant there are few people who are editing
professional e-zines who are SFWA members. I'm pretty sure that
statement is true.

And I said we're "down to" because Helix and Aeon have closed
recently, and I'm pretty sure there was at least one other that shut
down mere weeks ago. But see above for my recent memory problems.

Of course I understand about closed reading periods. I'm also
uncomfortably aware that a particularly long closed period often is a
harbinger of a shutdown. (Aeon was in one.) And like everybody else,
I've had purchased stories returned to me because the magazine
canceled all future issues.

Some of my stories have appeared in online magazines, so I'm hardly
against them or their success. I've often stated that the small press
and small zine revival (yes, revival - I'm old enough to have go
through several up and down periods) is what's saving the literary end
of the field from extinction. I'm pessimistic about the survival of
print magazines, true, and I still insist that a really good
electronic model hasn't been found yet. I'm glad people keep trying
but the successes of online reading are scattered and don't point to a
coherent future.

I'll get in touch to explain my particular and peculiar needs. Thanks
for the offer.

Steve
