Janice, Sarah and I attended a lecture last year at Rundel library, given by Professor Julie Wosk from SUNY-Maritime. (We all met Jason there, who's since started hanging around the list and come to a few meetings.) It was an interesting presentation that sparked a lot of back and forth.
She was waiting for a pub date at that time on her book ALLURING ANDROIDS, ROBOT WOMEN, AND ELECTRONIC EVES. She sent this message to let us know that it's now available. See the link she includes, below. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From:[email protected] Date: Feb 6, 2009 8:22 AM Subject: [About R-SPEC] New book on Women Robots and Androids To: [email protected] Professor Julie Wosk sent a message using the contact form at http://r-spec.org/contact. Several of your members attended a lecture I gave last year at the Rochester Public Library ON "Alluring Androids and Robots in Film, Photography, and Art" and they may be interested to know about my book ALLURING ANDROIDS, ROBOT WOMEN, AND ELECTRONIC EVES about the way female androids and robots have long fascinated filmmakers, artists, photographers, game designers, and robotics engineers.
