I deleted my facebook page after the firestorm of criticism about
privacy settings. They didn't back down on progressively revealing
more of subscriber's personal information. They only made it easier to
see the few controls that users have. I had been uncomfortable using
it for over a year before I saw this:

I'm not so blind as to think there is such thing as privacy any more,
but I don't like that they changed the deal after I signed up and were
likely to continue changing it.
I told all my distant cousins that I'll see them on the next social
medium that doesn't deceive me like that.

It's insanely rude and stupid to mount a community-involvement
campaign using only Facebook. For that reason alone, AFAIAC, they
don't deserve the endorsement of my attention.
Look at it this way: If the campaign required you to eat at
McDonalds in order to participate, would you think that was OK? This
is really not much different.
