For reasons I understand not at all, my previous attempt to send this came back to me with a #\> character inserted at this point, and on the web page was simply truncated here. Kind of makes it pointless. Taken from R5.97RS (page 13) <string element> -> ... | \ <intraline whitespace> <line ending> <intraline whitespace> <intraline whitespace> -> <character tabulation> | <any character whose category is Zs> Should have a Kleene star representing repetition, thus: <string element> -> ... | \ <intraline whitespace>* <line ending> <intraline whitespace>* otherwise you are requiring exactly one space on each side of a line break within a string.
