off colour/had poor rides and she had a perfect run - I can't see it.

Hi Fuzzy Trev and welcome to the group.

On evidence thus far, GEE I JANE is a class sprinter. At least
compared to what's going around in our open handicap sprints at the
moment.

I was at Ellerslie on Melbourne Cup day and GEE I JANE immediately
entered my diary as a horse that would possibly carry my money in the
future. Although it was just an Int event, the acceleration she
showed to win the race proved she was something special.

She never really saw daylight in her following start at Ellerslie -
the Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes in which CALVEEN destroyed them
[and will again this Saturday :-]

Onto the Concorde . . . few 1200m sprinters can put nearly three
lengths on their nearest rival in the final 100m, but she did just
that. MR TIZ springs to mind as a sprinter who possessed a similar
turn of foot.

And it's certainly remarkable that a two-win mare could run past
VAALU like he was tied to the fence. However, VAALU does not possess
a big sprint, [like his brother VINAKA] and there are few open class
sprinters in commission that do. Therefore, horses like GEE I JANE
are hard to contain when they sprint that quickly at the end of a
race as the nearest rival[s] don't get an opportunity to respond. The
race is over before they realise it.

Don't forget, though, that top class sprinters are sometimes horses
that have few starts and rise to the top very quickly [e.g.
O'REILLY.] They tend to target just the major events. It looks like
GEE I JANE falls into this category.

Can she win the Railway? Yes, of course she can. She's now in my
betting stable and am happy for her to carry my investment on New
Year's Day. She will, though, require a solid pace up front to enable
her powers to be unleashed. I doubt that will be a major problem.

Regards

Neil
