Title: Re: [racebase] Fw: Ellerslie - final day weather report
More important things . . . I'd like to see the Auckland Cup dropped altogether. Two-mile all-aged handicaps are a nineteenth century invention that served racing well in this part of the world for a good hundred years or so but have surely had their day.

The only problem with all that is that their day is probably the best Racing Day of the year and if you go on dropping daze because they are a nineteenth century invention very soon you aren’t going to have Racing full stop. It just strikes me sometimes that everyone who wants rid of jumping and two mile racing is more interested in betting as opposed to Racing and just want a quicker result for their money invested and as far as they are concerned a more certain result. Most people seem to subscribe to the theory that newer is better but I don’t .... Breathing was invented about five thousand years ago and it is still the best mode of survival .... Until they come up with something better I aint changing .... Muz
