One thing I have noticed, in a very unscientific study, is that when the third placegetter pays between $1.75 and $2.25 a place, the trifecta is almost always around ten times the quinella dividend . . . although this is reduced in small fields (fewer than ten runners). Get a third placegetter paying over $3.50 and the trifecta div is 20+ times the quinella.

Subject: [racebase] Calculating Trifectas

Is there a way of calculating the rough return of a trifecta prior to the race?
