George Neuner, you might want to look at Greg Hendershott's "Fear of Macros" (http://www.greghendershott.com/fear-of-macros/). I found it to be a very good introduction to syntax and to macros in general. I just wish he hadn't stopped before covering syntax-parse, as I did not find the reference docs as helpful for that one as he did. Greg, if you're reading this...any chance you might expand FoM?
