I get a lot of "stack level too deep" errors with the chronicle extension on 1.1 under ruby 1.9.2. It also seems to be incompatible with reorder_children, I believe. I'd file a bug report, but I can't add one to your fork.
I hope the extension isn't dead, there's nothing else available to use...
