It depends.  :-)
In case you didn't want to hear *that* answer, my suggestion would be:
Solaris on Sun Sparc as OS if depend on high stability and a *heavy* load
on one server and Linux for the rest.
As DB you should use Oracle if you want the most featurefull and complex one,
mysql for the featureless (ok for most things) but fastest db and postgresql
for more features like transactions but not the overkill of oracle.

For radiator mysql+linux is perhaps the most common, is it?
