Tom :
I have tried to find a simple answer to your question but can't come up
with anything like a magic bullet. But there are several parts to an answer
which you can add up and it makes perfect sense.

State Department --wants peaceful relations, therefore a policy of
appeasement
is desired so that Muslims states don't go berserk all the time

Leftist ideology in which the enemy of my enemy is my friend. The Left
hates
Christians and, in recent years, has become increasingly anti-Semitic.
Muslims
are often anti-Christian and very anti-Semitic, works out splendidly.

Stupidity --ignorance of even the basics of Islam and politicos can
pretend that
Islam is similar to church on the corner Christianity and should be
tolerated
based on Enlightenment principles.

There is also the role played by Left-wing religious groups, or similar
groups
who may not have Leftist views generally but have congruent views about
Islam,
like Theosophy and the Baha'i Faith. Call it the Unitarianization of
Christianity.
All are one under the skin, kumbaya, we all are brothers, etc, even when
we're not. Ecumenist ideology, not ecumenical ideology, a different animal.
Ecumenist ideology says that in the future all religions will blend and
converge
and we will live in peace and harmony, etc, and in the meantime, CRUSH
anyone who dissents from this new orthodoxy.

Oil --billions and billions are at stake. With Bush you had an "oil
president" who
was cozy with the Saudis and very protective of their interests.

The wild card in this, is why the media goes along with such nonsense.
Yes, the media is politically Left, but it is their journalists who get
killed
or, like the CBS woman reporter, Lara Logan, sexually abused by Muslim
mobs.
In many ways it is senseless for the TV networks, the NY Times, etc, to
buy into
this crap, yet they do.

The unattractiveness of elements of the Right. There is a Neanderthal
Right,
and no-one among the high mucky-muck class wants anything to do with it.
So, they disregard some of their best interests to oppose the farther
Right.

Think this about covers it, for Americans. For Europeans, I am not so sure.
There seems to be more at work for them, but maybe you have some insights
that are unknown to me.

Billy:

I can completely understand your skepticism. Had I not seen these things
with my own eyes and heard the conversations that, for some reason, the MSM
in the western world, wants to, for some ungodly reason, keep below the
radar, I would believe exactly as you do.

>From all indications it appears to me that a backlash from Europeans is
gaining momentum. One can only hope that this comes to fruition sooner than
later and puts the breaks on the extremist Islamic movements that have
invaded Christendom. It would appear that their sole purpose is to destroy the
Christian faith. I also cannot, for the life of me, see who the elitists
can possibly consider Islam as an ally since a great part of the elitist life
style can be considered haram to Muslim extremists. To ally one's self to
these people is to put your head in the tiger's mouth IMO.

but again that is another discussion I suppose
