Chris :
The article you provided says that Richard Grenell,. Romney's recent
foreign policy spokesman, has resigned. The question , then, is why Mitt
asked him to serve as his spokesman in the first place.

Just one more example of why Romney was a bad choice as standard bearer
for the Republican Party. Nothing that can be done about that now, but the
flap
over Grenell raises some important questions.

Romney, for a skilled politician, has a tin ear. He has warmed the hearts
of
just about no-one in the GOP base and the choice of an outspoken homosexual
to a high profile position in his campaign simply made it clear to
everyone in that base
that he is no conservative and has little interest in their most important
concerns.

Romney, for a Mormon bishop ( at least he once was ) also is Mormon Lite
in his values stands. The LDS Church is opposed to homosexuality, Romney,
for the life of him, can't see anything wrong about it and essentially
ignores
his church on such issues.

Politically that choice was also questionable. The homosexual population
of the US
is about 3 %. The Evangelical electorate comes in at 25 % or so, with
probably
most Catholics also critical, even if less so than true-believer
Protestants.
And, heck, there are a good number of Orthodox Jews, plus some who
are Conservative Jews, who also are critical. Why, then, pander to
homosexuals ?

While it is also true that many Leftists ( most of the urban Democratic
Party, especially )
are pro-homosexual and make acceptance of homosexuals a litmus test,
Romney is
not going to get their votes anyway.

As I see it, Romney has a serious problem with his ( very unenthusiastic )
 base.
If he can't get these people at least a little bit fired up he could
easily lose in November.

Well, I may yet vote for him, but only with feelings of the deepest dismay.
He probably won't be as bad as Obama, is all that I can say, but this is
anything but a fervent endorsement. My guess is that these sentiments
are shared by just about the entire conservative base.

If Romney expects to win he can't do it without not only their votes
but without their active help. Romney, to use metaphor, had better
stop worrying about MSNBC and work on making
the people at Fox happy.
