That's probably a mixed bag. Bear in
mind that the official Catholic position on this is more
conservative as well. Some Catholics are predicting a church split
and the creation of an American Catholic Church that is pro-gay.
One of the main items left unaddressed is whether or not there will be FORCED performance of same-sex "weddings." If so, look for a burgeoning "home church" movement, while standard issue churches fold. Nobody is really saying anything about this. One can only hope that freedom of conscience does not just apply to gays. Obama's history with the treatment of "enemies" does not inspire confidence, and forcing abortion coverage on Catholic institutions in violation of their consciences and their faith not only does not inspire confidence, it is the very example of what I DON'T want to happen. History is not on the side of the "gay marriage" dissenters. So, I bet it happens. David "There is no virtue in compulsory government charity, and there is no virtue in advocating it. A politician who portrays himself as "caring" and "sensitive" because he wants to expand the government's charitable programs is merely saying that he's willing to try to do good with other people's money. Well, who isn't? And a voter who takes pride in supporting such programs is telling us that he'll do good with his own money -- if a gun is held to his head."--P. J.
