I hate to send links; if I want people to actually read something, so my thinking goes, far better to present it to them in a really nice easy-to-read and ready-to-copy format. It takes a little work and a little time, but the objective is what counts, not my convenience. And, after all, if something is good enough to recommend, then my hope is also that it will be passed on to others whom I don't even know. That is, being an "evangelist for good ideas" is what this is all about. The following story is a real eye-opener about Reza Aslan. Unfortunately the formatting for the story in the August 1, 2013 edition of The Blaze is really a mess. I could not get it to copy in anything like a coherent way. So, in lieu of a link, here is the information needed to find the story. Aslan is very much capable of being an idiot. This doesn't mean that his book is idiotic, not at all, but it does mean that lurking beneath the academic prose is someone who, at least sometimes, is superficial and coarse. Because he sometimes swears ? Hell no. I sometimes swear, probably we all sometimes swear. What is objectionable is his artless cursing, I mean, like, it is totally uncreative and pedestrian. If you're going to cuss in text format, dammit, put a little thought into it.
