Ernie: Unexpected reply.
Tell you what, for something like this we need someone like Jonathan Haidt. He is the social psychologist I have discussed several times in the past few years. He has a new book out, The Coddling of the American Mind. Have heard him talk about the book on C-Span. Primarily it is about values changes on college campuses, safe spaces and hyper-sensitivity, etc, all of which infantilize people. He traces this sick development to the media culture of the 1990s and to changes in parenting in the same era which became extremely protective due to media over-concern with child abductions. I like your approach, that is, market something. Haidt -or someone who knows his system of operating- could analyze what is going on in the broader culture and locate points where we might intervene. That's the scientific approach. Before then, what might be done is to spell out the problem in greater detail than my very brief sketch. Then advertise by way of an appeal to solve the problem. This would start the process. A lot more to do after that. Any suggestions? BTW, if he was interested this would seem to be a "natural" for Chris. Ideas? Its all invective, cussing at each other, unhappiness expressed but not analyzed, and uninformed people mad as hell. Sounds like a market opportunity. :-) What would that look like? How might we do it?
