I can't address the "plans" issue.

But I agree that some of us are very sensitive to light for sleeping.
And for me as well, blue is really bad.

I know from sailboat racing that most of their instruments use red
lighting so as to not destroy your "night vision" ability. Our eyes seem
to tolerate a fair amount of red light in ways that blue or white just
can't do.

I just get used 'gels' from the local theater and put them on everything
that glows
