I've seen a lot of comments in the forum on the Radio's WiFi not connecting on first try. I wanted to share my experience having just received a new Radio. My set-up is as follows: - Squeezebox v7.4.1 running on a Ubuntu 9.04 server - Already had an SB3 connecting wirelessly - WiFi is 802.11g (only), WPA2 personal with AES encryption
I initially plugged the radio in and tried to connect to my wireless network, no luck. I then connected it via Ethernet and it immediately loaded the latest firmware. On reboot, I disconnected the Ethernet and tried to connect wirelessly again; still no luck. So, with Ethernet plugged in (remember I had already entered my WPA2 password), I power-cycled the Radio. It immediately prompted me for my mySqueezebox.com username/password which I entered. However, the Radio did not seem to connect to my personal Squeezebox; this only happened once I scrolled to the Music folder. As soon as I clicked on "My Music", the Radio registered on my server and loaded all of the songs etc. At this point, I was able to use my Squeezebox server to explore the Radio. It was here that I noticed the Radio was actually indicating that it was connected wirelessly. To confirm, I disconnected the Ethernet and it continued to stream music. As a final test, I power-cycled (pulled power cord) the Radio and on reboot it was able to connect to my WiFi using the password I had initially entered. To sum it up; when you are first configuring your radio, use the Ethernet connection. -- Juggler ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Juggler's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4935 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72166 _______________________________________________ Radio mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
