The BBC apps (and BBCiPlayer) all use full BBC ASX URLs which have to be parsed by the mysb com server to get a playable mms URL and this is the root of the issue - for the same URL, the BBC will deliver a different ASX playlist of many mms URLs depending on whether the requester is inside or outside the UK. The solution is to bypass the playlist by giving a mms URL with the special "noslim" tag - this has the side effect that if the mms URL is busy then it will not play any other mms URL.
> > So many secret incantations! Is there a guide or manual > that lists, explains and provides examples of them ALL > anywhere? TIA > There are very few "secret incantations!" - this one was a quick fix done a few years ago and although I think the developers would like to re-work it as it is not wholly satisfactory but it is such a rarely used "feature" it is not high on the priority list. When it was done, few users would consider using the internet to listen to their local FM radio station on their main audio system - since the FM radio provided better quality and on radio in kitchesns etc. This may be changing with the arrival of SB Radio devices, better quality audio streams and higher speed broadband connections. I think many of the "secret incantations!" which you attributed to SBS are in fact procedures/processes which relates to specific combination of equipment, OS, software and audio sources. I have seen some users recommend such procedures where clearly they would do nothing. At the moment many of such items are documents in Wiki and Forums. For example this one can be found here. http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=218476&postcount=6 The Wiki can be edited by users so if you feel a "feature" is important enough - create/update a Wiki entry. -- bpa ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73904 _______________________________________________ Radio mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
