First of all thank you to both Andynormancx and Toby10. As you suggest, I think there must have been something wrong with my setup prior to the download of 7.4.2 firmware. The six silver buttons on either side of the screen only functioned on MySB - now they work for both MySB and SBS. It's so much better now.
I've been playing around with the radio (A LOT) again today and in general it works fine (and just as you describe). And I've added "switch to MySqueezeBox" to my home screen, and that works fine. I've been switching servers many times to confirm what happens and in a few instances the radio failed to switch servers, in a few instances it reported that it had failed to switch servers when in fact it had, and in couple of instances whilst I was connected to SBS, I chose "My Applications | Last FM" and got the message "You have chosen an application that needs a different server etc..." when of course it doesn't. I think I must have received one of those messages as I was setting up the radio and mistakenly thought, "Oh, so that's how it works". So in my routine operation of the radio over the past few weeks I've been switching servers many times and meeting some of the problems above. Now that I understand there is no need to switch in normal operation (unless I want iPlayer or My Music) I'll just leave the radio on MySB and I'm sure that all will be fine.
