Peter, could you clarify:
- when the radio is disconnected from the main power, it will power
itself down after x minutes to safe battery life and will wake up 3min
before the alarm (even without your patch) ?
- your patch just makes the same behaviour when someone pushes the
power button to shut the radio down ?

Can you verify it really is ?
I tested it once (WOL is supposed to be sent 10min prior to the alarm
in 7.4.2) but didn't see a WOL with a sniffer.
