On the other hand, a NAT iptable rule would allow any machine using the
radio as a gateway to appear as if it was coming from the Radio IP. 
Such a rule could easily be added, if the iptables modules and iptable
userland was present in the radio.  Looking at my radio, it seems they
are not.

The alternative is to run a lightweight http proxy.

Both solutions would allow a lappy to auth to the portal and open up
the IP/MAC address.

If the Radio was a regular x86 I could have this knocked up in minutes,
but sadly it's not....  I might have a go at setting up a dev system
though.

(While I'm here, why does the radio listen on time, daytime, and the
echo service? Is there any reason for this?)
