No, it's not just a housekeeping connection. It's full-on streaming of audio content (those router lights are in full blink mode) for a few extra minutes after hitting the theoretical "Power" button.
The workaround (and the Radio is all about workarounds) is to Stop the stream before tapping Power. You can do this by holding down Pause for a second or two. (Some day I will get around to asking why there are two Pause buttons - one called Mute but appearing to function identically to Pause - but no Stop button. But there are bigger mysteries about the Radio...) -- TJ_ Squeezebox Radio, hardware 5, firmware r9009 - eccentric UI, erratic firmware. (Replaces Roku Soundbridge Radio, RIP - excellent UI, egregious hardware.) Roku Soundbridge M1001 - needs periodic reboot, otherwise excellent. Linksys WRT54G with DD-WRT and OpenDNS. PC n/a - turned off at night when I use Squeezebox Radio. Therefore, I'm using mysqueezebox.com. Pray for me. I'm not here to annoy you.
