I think what you are suggesting is that pause is working as expected, however when taping the power button the connection should be terminated.
My prior response was to give an explanation for what you were observing. Continuing to buffer when pausing but immediately terminating the connection when powering down seems sensible to me. I was surprised to discover it didn't work that way.
