Yes I think you are ;-) Over here it very much depends where you live. I'm what I would call semi rural and have no Cable services and poor to lousy mobile services. So all data and phone services come from local exchange via ther same 2 wires. Our exchange is yet to be "unbundled" i.e. it's services are all provided through BT (Openreach) either retail or wholsale. Were I a city dweller we would be better catered for purely beacuse of population density. Most of our SP's used to provide unlimited downloads but they got wise to the fact that some users where only browsing and emailing while others were downloading video, TV etc. and using a lot more bandwidth. So they cottoned on to the idea that they could charge a premium for this, so now most offer different packages at increasing cost for higher download limits. Even those that offer "unlimited" downloads have a "fair usage" policy which will either incur charges for "unfair" usage or bandwidth/speed throttling for the reamainder of the billng cycle. I'm actualy on an old unlimited tarriff with my current ISP but they keep pestering me to change so I will lose it if I change supplier or package. I would think from a busines perspective this model will gradualy become the norm all over, so enjoy it while you can :-) We are certainly well behind the drag curve in UK when it comes to high speed access. All down to the lack of access to the local loop. Quaint eh! Given all this I still want an OTA Radio that can stream from my SBS, streaming radio would be just a nice plus but by no means top priority for me. This would give me the flexibility I'mlooking for. It's nice to see some healthy debate and to see it from other people's perspective given the differing online and OTA services available in different regions/countries. What a wonderfuly diverse world we live in ;-) -- cliver ------------------------------------------------------------------------ cliver's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=43289 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85190 _______________________________________________ Radio mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
