It's a strong trend and if you look into corporate Apps I would say right now even more are being developed this way than natively. Of course, if you had more resources than one developer having to do both apps plus other work you could make it look more native...
On the Android App: it's far worse than the iOS one. Most iOS devices are at least powerful enough to make the WebApp responsive enough to use, I find it OK. On Android, a significant number are not.
