I switched to BT about 18 months ago as they were offering the best connection speed in my area. I had read horror stories about the Home Hub so I didn't bother using it, I just put the BT settings into my old router (if it ain't broke...!) I get very few problems from my SB setup. My advice to you would be to buy a Netgear DG834G v3 (available on eBay for about £20) and connect to that. I suggest v3 in particular because the wireless aerial is removable and can be replaced by a higher gain version. This is not the case with later models.
