I can say that I only ever stop play with a simple pause and I can see
from my daily Internet use log from my provider that days I'm home and
streaming a lot I'm using bandwidth but days I'm gone there is
effectively zero use. so bpa's explanation certainly explains my
observation. 

Short answer. Nothing to worry about.
