The clever Logitech DSP all seems to happen through alsa plugin(s), I
think. I could be wrong. Ideally we would be given another, dirt cheap,
EQ plugin to add into the chain. Could it be that simple ?

A couple of months ago I formed the conclusion that the hardware
codec/amplifier/thingummy could be induced to do some filtering. Just a
matter of figuring good DSP filter values to load up, and into which
chip registers to load them. Looks like it could be done from the
command line (amixer) as the registers appeared to have been exposed to
view (De-Emphasis Filters). It's a while since I looked, but I don't
think memory is playing tricks on me. Existing software seemed to be
leaving them untouched. Of course, it could ruin all the good work done
by Logitech's DSP !

My goal would be to add a simple bass unboost button to quell boomy
baritone announcers. But it's not going to happen for a while unless
someone else does it. There'd be some intricacies around switching to
and from headphones, etc., because the chip's input & output is mapped
differently from normal speakers.

So that's the programme... but no start date specified. :)
