Full ack except for the button thing. You've got more buttons on the main screen than iPeng and with the exception of the +/- ones I don't believe any of your buttons are bigger. It's just that - as you already said - if you spend 3/4th of the screen estate for other things than actual menu content you can use that to calm down the appearance a lot :)
