Thanks guys - I changed the timeout to 28800 (8hrs) in server.prefs and that has certainly worked this morning. If it's wiped back to the server value by a restart or anything I'll try the UI hack to increase the slider. At least I know the player will accept that large a value :)
@azinck3, I saw the "indefinite" option but what I needed was a specific long duration - I don't want it playing 24/7 if I forget to turn the alarm off when I go away.
