I believe it won't be volume changes causing his, but phase drift
between the devices. This happens when they start to get out of sync.
The fact that sometimes playback eventually restarts entirely also is an
indicator for that, this is what happens when Squeezeboxes are too far
out of sync to be re-synced.

Do you run your own server or are the Radios directly connected to
MySqueezebox.com? When you use your own server, drift should usually be
limited to 10 ms which should be completely fine for a normal room but
since MySB is far away on some Internet server it doesn't have the same
accurate timing information between the two devices.

I've noticed this very effect a lot when we were developing iPeng's
synnchronized playback. When you are very close (<< 1m) to both
speakers and especially when you play the same channel out of both
speakers, even a few ms of drift are noticeable, it was an effect like
the direction of the sound moving around your head and when the 10ms
where hit and the streams where re-synced, it was like the sounds was
flipping back. You could clearly hear what the sync was doing without
looking at data.

The effect goes away within a few feet of distance but then with MySB
you might have much more drift, I believe the server only stops and
restarts the track when you exceed 100 or 150 ms (sorry, not sure about
these figures).
