I have used my Touch and SB3 in South Africa and Singapore. It will work. You may need to factory reset (or go into settings somewhere) and and choose a different country during initial setup. As the WiFi channels could be different in different regions (due to regulations). Your (UK) wifi router may be broadcasting on a wifi channel which is not available in the US and therefore your Radio won't listen on that channel. It's just a setting though so it should work once you change the setting.
