Is it fair to say you need the latest ue software version to convert to squeezebox I am getting one delivered today to replace a bricked radio and really hope I can get it to work as a squeezebox
I think the problem which has been reported her (not able to update firmware at all, neither UE firmware, nor SB firmware) is related to an issue which we've seen with UE SR before: sometimes the radio would fail to contact the configuration host, which would tell it what firmware to run. When this fails, the radio would just continue to run whatever it has. Therefore such devices would never get a new firmware. Some people could overcome this issue using a different network. We improved the behaviour in 10.0.1 - alas this is of little help if your device fails to get that firmware...
Should you face this issue, then please let me know. I've written a small applet for the UE SR which has helped getting the latest firmware installed for a few users.
