Hi,

one of my three squeezbox radios had these wifi woes also for quite a
while, and they could not be solved
by adjusting WLAN settings, positioning of the radio, etc. ,.. once I
opened the radio I found that there was
a big chunk of exessive solder sitting on the active WLAN Antenna
soldering point, overlapping the surrounding
ground area, though this was still isolated as measuered by an ohm
meter, this solder blob acted at this frequency
as a capacitor to ground, which either drains incommig RF energy or
alters the resonator characteristics of
the wlan antenna in the 2.4 Ghz range, you can see it in this picture:

once I removed the exessive solder with a soldering iron, everything was
fine!!

so at least in my case it was a very simple Hardware problem,..
