I should have mentioned this in my original message, as I'd spotted it
earlier, but anyway ... looking at the saved presets in server.prefs,
what I see is:

I've wrapped the URL line to make it easier to see the end of line,
particularly the "#0-3457.36" section, because when I compare
server.prefs on the current server with backups of my previous server,
then the prefs from the earlier software (7.6.1) don't have this last
section. Presumably this is some kind of "slice", saying play this track
from 0 to marker 3457.36 (seconds) ?? Unfortunately deleting the slice
info from the server.prefs and restarting LMS doesn't fix the problem,
so it looks like this is a red herring ...
