Broadcasters are being offered a whole range of new streaming methods -
*DASH Dynamic Streaming over HTTP - non propriety *HLS Apple's adaptive delivery over HTTP (Live Streaming) - which the BBC are using *HSS Microsoft's HTTP Smooth Streaming *HDS Adobe's HTTP Dynamic Steaming I guess the BBC have selected HLS for now - as most? users listening to the radio are doing it through phones iOS & newer Androids + apps. In any case, that appears to be their decision for now. Personally I find the MP3 streams give more drop outs than the AAC had been (which never dropped out) but at least enabled devices of any vintage to operate again. Ah we also lost Radio DNS with the loss of a working Triode plugin. However here is my question to anyone who knows! There is an excellent plugin for the LMS, that allows you to access the HLS streams on the Squeeze box radio, but it needs you to run LMS, which I don't normally. There is enough hardware in the **** radio to work with the standard standalone***. However..... Logitech won't be doing this? (I doubt it)? It also cannot be done through a LUA applet? Is that the case? So the only way to do this is through a firmware upgrade and only Logitech are able to do that..... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dean_Bayliss's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=63168 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103248 _______________________________________________ Radio mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
