So, I did find the 'Wiki entry' (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Disable_IR_remote_reception) on disabling the remote reception, but that only disables the execution of the codes.
Problem is that the Speaker still turns on when it receives an IR signal. I can hear a short crack and then quiet white noise until it goes into full sleep again. Any way to completely disable that? Patch out the IR handling in the code? Where can I find that part?
