Hi all,

I've been a staunch supporter of LMS and the Squeezebox systems for
years, but my requirements have changed and in recent years certain
functions of LMS have simply become unnecessary for me - I exclusively
use digital radio or Google Play Music for almost everything, so I no
longer need an interface to a local library (and I'd like to do away
with having to run a server service to support it).

Also, what I really use it for nowadays has either become flaky at times
and needs constant fiddling as APIs are changed etc. (Google Play Music
support) or I've needed to tweak/fiddle to restore functionality (BBC
radio streams). Coupled with the fact Logitech don't make these units
(or the UE line) any more, I've decided to replace it, but what with?

As it stands, this is what I require:

- A box of roughly equal size (slightly larger/smaller no problem).
- At least equal sound quality (any improvement would obviously be no
problem, but wouldn't want to get anything that was inferior).
- I'm in the UK, so the ability to play BBC 6 Music (really the only
radio station I listen to) - don't care if it's DAB or a stream - but
it has to be possible without hacking/fiddling or require a server
  running on my network.
- Some kind of integration with Google Play Music - again no
hacking/fiddling to get it working - so this really means the ability
to either receive bluetooth audio from my phone/tablet or some kind of
  "cast" support built-in.
- A screen that will display (as a minimum) the current radio/stream
station AND track/artist playing - this is what I LOVE about the
Squeezebox/BBC plugins (w/ patches). It should also display at a
minimum the artist/track of what is being cast/sent via bluetooth
(rather than just display something like "BT" or "BT Audio") - album
  art would be a bonus!

The nearest I can find is something like the Roberts Blutune65 (it has a
totally superfluous iDevice dock which I'd never use) but aside from
that the display (although only 1 or 2 lines) will probably display what
I want less the album art...but I'd really like something more like the
Squeezebox's screen.

Their Internet Stream 93i radios look most similar to a Squeezebox, but
there's no Google Play support (nor bluetooth so I can't get it there
that way either).

The Zettaly Avy looks interesting and is cheap, but I don't want to
restrict myself into an OS/environment that won't get updated, or that
services stop working with as it ages and app publishers stop supporting
(it runs Android KitKat which is already relatively long in the tooth
with no obvious sign of an upgrade).
