It helps to cycle of your battery from fully charged to fully discharged. After fully discharged let the radio sit for an hour before recharging. Doing this a number of times may help bring your battery back to its original state. Also remember NiCad batteries need to be used on a regular basis. Or cycled as stated. If not the usable life will diminish. On the other hand the battery only has so much life or recharge cycles
