So I took it apart now. Wow. They are actually just plain AA cells.
Wonder why Logitech didn't just sell a battery compartment back then
(Yeah, money I know).

I also searched the web for aftermarket batteries. Wow again. I would
never have imagined that there was so many available for such an old
product even in little Denmark. If I buy one of those, should I worry
that the cells may be old already. Or is that not an issue for unused
NI-MH cells? I must admit at the prices available I'm probably too lazy
to build my own.
