Just a brief update:
I did a deep freezer treatment of the battery pack. 18 hours at -18 c and then slowly thawed it wrapped in insulation some hours in the fridge and then some hours on the counter, still wrapped. After two charge cycles it now runs the Radio for above one hour instead of 3-5 minutes. I will cycle it a few more times and then freeze it once more. But one hour is enough for me to keep the same battery for now. But now I know that replacement batteries are still readily available. Thanks for all input.
